It suggests that even if the action were to occur, the result would not change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Here\u2019s how to use \u201c\u301c\u305f\u3068\u3053\u308d\u3067\u201d in a sentence:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take the verb you want to use, and change it to its past tense ta-form.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add \u201c\u3068\u3053\u308d\u3067\u201d (tokorode).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: It&#8217;s used with the past informal form of verbs. The past tense here serves as a counterfactual marker, not to indicate past time. It implies that the action or state in the clause has not occurred yet but is being supposed as if it has. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note also that the second half of the sentence it&#8217;s used in is almost always negative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Here\u2019s a few examples of \u301c\u305f\u3068\u3053\u308d\u3067 in action:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u3053\u306e\u30d7\u30ec\u30bc\u30f3\u3092\u6e96\u5099\u3057\u305f\u3068\u3053\u308d\u3067\u3001\u30af\u30e9\u30a4\u30a2\u30f3\u30c8\u304c\u7d0d\u5f97\u3059\u308b\u3068\u306f\u9650\u3089\u306a\u3044\u3002<\/strong>(kono purezen o junbi shita tokoro de, kuraianto ga nokku suru to wa kagiranai). Even if we prepare this presentation, it doesn&#8217;t guarantee that the client will be satisfied.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u3069\u3093\u306a\u306b\u901f\u304f\u8d70\u3063\u305f\u3068\u3053\u308d\u3067\u3001\u5f7c\u306b\u306f\u8ffd\u3044\u3064\u3051\u306a\u3044\u3002<\/strong>(donan ni soku ni hashitta tokoro de, karino ni oitsukenai). No matter how fast you run, you won&#8217;t be able to catch up with him.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u5f7c\u306b\u8b1d\u3063\u305f\u3068\u3053\u308d\u3067\u3001\u3082\u3046\u95a2\u4fc2\u306f\u4fee\u5fa9\u3067\u304d\u306a\u3044\u3060\u308d\u3046\u3002<\/strong>(karino shitsute tokoro de, m\u014d kankei wa sh\u016bfuku dekinaidarou). Even if you apologize to him, the relationship probably can&#8217;t be repaired anymore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>\u3053\u306e\u8a66\u9a13\u306b\u5408\u683c\u3057\u305f\u3068\u3053\u308d\u3067\u3001\u5e0c\u671b\u306e\u4f1a\u793e\u306b\u5165\u308c\u308b\u3068\u306f\u9650\u3089\u306a\u3044\u3002<\/strong>(kono shiken ni g\u014dkaku shita tokoro de, kib\u014d no kaisha ni haiteru to wa kagiranai).
